About me

Hi, I'm Oya — the illustrator behind Happiko.

I'm not a traditional artist, but an artist by heart. My background is in psychology, but creativity and illustration have always been close to my heart. I've been illustrating as a hobby for a long time, and about a year ago I decided to turn that passion into something a little bigger — and Happiko was born.

Happiko is where my two passions meet- my passion for wellness and my love of art. Using Procreate, I bring to life playful, imaginative characters and scenes that celebrate the simple joys of everyday life. Imagination, playfulness, and creativity are at the heart of everything I create. And I believe in the power of small, joyful things. A postcard, a print, a little reminder on your wall — these tiny pieces can spark happiness in your everyday life. My hope is that every Happiko piece brings a little more joy to you, just as creating them brings joy to me.

My creative process

Here's how I bring illustrations to life.

Inspiration

Every Happiko piece begins with the world around me. Nature, animals, and the playful, joyful moments I share with the people in my life are my biggest sources of inspiration. I find magic in the small things — a funny interaction, a beautiful scene, a feeling worth capturing — and let my imagination run wild from there.

Refining the design

Once an idea sparks, I bring it to life on my iPad using Procreate. With my pen in hand, I start sketching freely — exploring shapes, characters, and compositions until the concept feels just right. This is where the playfulness really comes through, experimenting and letting the illustration evolve naturally.

Color & shading

Back in Procreate, I add color, depth, and personality to each piece. I love working with vibrant, saturated colors that feel warm and full of life. Every detail is carefully refined until the illustration feels complete — joyful, expressive, and uniquely Happiko.
